AstralPool, an international reference in the manufacture and
distribution of pool systems and components, gathered more than fifty architects and engineers from
all over Europe at the International Architects and Engineers Meeting 2007, which took place 15 -
16 October at the Hotel AC Barcelona Forum. This is the third consecutive year that AstralPool has
organised this meeting. Participants were received by Amadeu Serra, the General Manager of
AstralPool Europe.
In this third edition, 67 architects and engineers from different European countries (Spain, Italy, Denmark, Iceland, Germany, UK, Hungary, Russia and Greece) debated sustainability in the pool sector and market tendencies in wellness. The objectives of these meetings are to share experiences, network and provide information to the participants from the points of view of architects, promoters and contractors.
This year's meeting included a new concept: the combination of conferences and leisure activities. On the first day, the topics were concerned with sustainability and water use. And the second day was dedicated to wellness. A highlight was the round table that took place on the last day, in which both external conference attendees and representatives from AstralPool participated.
Among the presenters were: architect Juan Andrés Hernández, who centred his presentation on designing a high-yield centre such as the CAR in Sant Cugat del Vallès, with sustainability criteria; architect Keith Ashton, project manager for the London 2012 Olympic pool, who completed an in-depth analysis of the tendencies in the health area and their consequences and influence in the wellness and fitness markets; Hector Cruz, General Manager of Duet Spa & Sports, who, along with the centre's architect, Luis Alonso, explained the needs of a promoter when creating a wellness zone; and architect Sergio Bizzarro, author of “Studio Bizzarro - architettura del benessere” who presented in great detail the factors to have in mind when building a wellness zone.
