AstralPool marks the beginning of a new era in aquatic competitions
In 2003, AstralPool installed the first suspended competition swimming pool at the Palau Sant Jordi de Barcelona, measuring 50 x 25 metres, 2 metres deep and with a capacity for 2500 cubic metres of water, thus marking a before and an after in the world of international championships.
The swimming pool installed at the Palau Sant Jordi was lauded as ‘magic’ by the press and by FINA itself and praised by numerous swimmers. The great physical shape of the swimmers and the excellent installation and maintenance of the swimming pool contributed to the Barcelona World Championships becoming truly ‘incredible’, as the slogan claimed.
Prove of that were the excellent results that were obtained: a total of 14 world records and 6 European records and 6 Spanish records.
