First Permanent Skypool in Australia

AstralPool Australia, the AstralPool affiliate in Australia, has begun installation on two Skypool municipal pools, 50 x 21.6 x 1.8 metres, in the town of Thuringowa, Townsville, in the state of Queensland.

TP Aquatic Construction is in charge of carrying out the project, along with AstralPool Hurlcon. The pools are expected to be filled in July and will open shortly thereafter.

They had already installed a temporary pool with similar characteristics in 2007 for the World Swimming Championships that took place in March in Melbourne. However, the pools in Townsville will be the first permanent pools of this kind installed in the country.

In addition to meeting strict quality and precision guidelines as the official pools of the FINA World Swimming Championships, Skypool pools offer numerous economic advantages: because they are formed by individual panels that are delivered in kits, they require less specialised labour, which significantly reduces the total cost of the pool.

The Skypool system also allows for installing the pools in record times: the installation in Townsville will take less than a month to complete.
